Stage: Managed

Since I was a teenager I have loved Musical theatre. After years of performing in my high school productions I decided to look at my options for a career in the industry. After some serious consideration, I decided to study Theatre production in college. I am so thankful I decided on this path. The opportunities to continue my growth and gain the experience I would need were absolutely rewarded by this decision. The first time I stage-managed a show in college, I knew that this is what I am going to do for a living. Luckily, after graduation, I felt I was ready and I moved to New York City. Now I am extremely proud to say that I work as a stage manager and I feel lucky every day that I can say that.

This didn’t just “happen” for me, however. During college, I was very diligent about networking. This entailed taking internships and sending my resume to every contact I made or had access to. After moving to NYC and working various PA and SM gigs I was lucky to book a tour, which opened up a new world of possibilities.  While the road presents many hardships, I found adjusting a show to fit in different venues, experiencing different cities, and working with all the local IATSE crews to be such an exciting, enjoyable— and yes, challenging—experience. I think I am lucky to know in my twenties that I like working in NYC and on the road, with each presenting their own challenges and rewards.

My favorite moments from the road were my cues to go to the house to send and receive actors on Dirty Dancing and On Your Feet. Seeing and feeling the audience enjoy the show reminded me of why I fell in love with theatre in the first place.  I hope to have more of these moments in the future. For now, it’s nice to be back working in NYC. I am excited to see what is next for me!
